New Master printer driver (SEAL Systems PS) - Installation instructions

Description
After installing certain Windows security patches, the SEAL Master Printerdriver cannot be installed anymore.

Solution
The new Master Printerdriver was adjusted and certified by Microsoft. With an active maintenance contract, SEAL Systems will supply a standard MSI basepackage as a .zip file free of charge.

Please mind - IMPORTANT!
If non default adjustments are necessary (e.g. different printer names, paper formats, number of printers) please inform your technical or sales contact at SEAL Systems. Self made adjustments will lead to a certification error!

Content

The default contains the following components / functions:

Installation of the P2P Printer (install-p2p-printer.bat) (optional also PAD Printer).
4 printers will be installed:
- PLOSSYS CAD Dialog / Quick
- PLOSSYS Office Dialog / Quick

Dialog starts P2P, Quick prints directly via a default printer set in P2P.

CAD Printers:

These do not need a paper-size or -orientation, PLOSSYS 4 cuts away unneeded areas around the drawing frame automatically.
The predefined XXL paper format for the CAD printers, will be displayed with "Custom Pagesize", but XXL will be used.
The CAD printers cannot be used for the Office output!

Office Printers:

These usually print on normal paper sizes, as with all Windows printers you have to select paper size and orientation.

Installation notes:

Prior to the installation, the existant Masterdriver has to be uninstalled

The corresponding install command will automatically be created and displayed by the implemented batch file. This command is to be used for network installation.
With another button press when executing the batch file, it can also be executed on a client for testing purposes.

Defining the install directory

You will receive a link to the Zip install package from your SEAL Systems contact person (this also contains the MSI base package). Download this Zip-file.
On the OCON-/ easyPRIMA-Server under ~/install create a subdirectory with the name of the ZIP file
Copy the complete contents of this ZIP to this subdirectory. (The file also contains other BAT files for different PLOSSYS 4 components)

Configuration

The configuration file ‚install-p2p-printer.customer.bat‘ is contained in the configuration file. Here you have to configure the following parameters:

SERVERNAME=PLSSERVERNAME
Replace the PLSSERVERNAME variable with the network name of your PLOSSYS 4-Servers
Define the installation directory
1. Local installation on the client / P2P_INSTALLDIR=%PLSHOME%\.....
  Activate line 53 here (Remove the :: in the line) and overwrite the sample directory with the real path. Important! Insert the path without the "
2. Central installation on the PLOSSYS 4-Server / SHARE_NAME=netdome
  Advantage: An update only has to be made available in one place. An adjustment is only necessary if the share name on the PLOSSYS 4-Server is NOT ‚netdome‘. In this case, activate line 37 (Remove the comment character :: in the line) and replace the ‚netdome‘ variable with the share name.

Install Windows printer (for test purposes)

Temporarily copy the install directory to a client (please do not use any space characters in the directory name)
Open a Windows shell with administrator rights by right clicking and then start the batch file ‚install-p2p-printer.bat‘
Now the install command will be displayed as example for a network installation (it may be necessary to adjust the network paths), by another button press the Windows printer package will be installed

Deinstallation
The deinstallation is done via the System Control "Programs and features".

Tips for Windows 10

The best overview of printers and drivers is available via the Print Management. This tool is more suited for administrators than the default "Device and Printer" overview in the System Control.

There is a GodMode to get the classic "look and feel" of the printer overview.
