Creating a Customer Copy Automatically (Windows)

Creating a Customer Copy Automatically (Windows)

Description:
Some error situations can only be reproduced in the customer environment. For this, SEAL Systems requires a customer copy of the installation. The customer copy can be created during operation. By general, dynamic data (output or conversion jobs) is not needed and is not included into the customer copy.

Availability:
In standard as of version 4.3.0 - installation date: 2010-10-06 or higher.
We advise to download the newest version 3.10. This version creates an additional zip file with the customer directory.  Dynamic data are not included.
The files can also be installed later. Proceed as follows:

  1. Please request the following file from your SEAL contact: 20210820_am_seal_backup_3.10_hotfix.zip
For Windows we recommend using 7-zip. Your SEAL contact gladly will supply the necessary file (7z1900-x64.exe) to you.

  2. Follow these instructions for installation: Install/Uninstall a package via the Shell

Solution:
Execute the 'seal_backup.bat' command in the SEAL shell. Information about the process and location of the customer copy creation is displayed in the SEAL shell. After creating the file, an explorer window will pop up with the directory where the files were created in.
The files will be created in the ..\data\backup\ directory. If this cannot be created the directory %tmp% (which is usually set to ..\data\tmp\) will be used.
Two files will be created (Attention: Only from version 3.5 upwards):

  • plossys.tar.gz - The PLOSSYS main directory

  • plossyscust.tar.gz - The customer directory with the customer specific configurations

As soon as these files are created, please check that the directories that are listed in the ..\tools\seal_backup-exclude.txt are not included in the files.

Tip:
For Linux, UNIX, proceed as described in: Creating a Customer Copy
